The last season has welcomed Princess Catherine back to several public events. Following her cancer diagnosis early in 2024 she underwent preventative chemotherapy, but as the year progressed she attended the Trooping the Colour, presented the champions' prizes at Wimbledon, and joined her husband Prince William in supporting the Olympic and Paralympic athletes of Team Great Britain. With the holidays only a few months away, she has undertaken plans for another tradition: The royal family's Christmas concert.

Plans in place for the holidays

According to Us Weekly, the meeting for the event was referenced in the Court Circular of The Times of London. The circular in question from September 24 mentions that "The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this morning held a Meeting at Windsor Kastle."

The Princess first hosted the Royal Carols and has subsequently taken charge of the yearly Christmas Concert with members of her family. She even played piano during the 2021 concert.

According to the Westminster Abbey website, the Christmas concert's goal is to promote awareness of "the selfless efforts of those who support children and families in communities across the U.K." The theme brings to mind the first of Princess Catherine's outings this month, in which she met with "team members of the Centre for Early Childhood, which...is dedicated to improving childhood development and working within society to implement positive changes." Her meeting with those team members took place one week before the aforementioned session with the Royal Foundation.

"Reflect and be grateful"

Earlier this month, Princess Catherine posted a video on social media discussing her current health. She described "what a relief it is to have finally completed chemotherapy treatment" on September 9. The family has "had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown." She shared further lessons that the journey has taught her:

"This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us take for granted...Of simply loving and being loved."

With such a perspective on the year, the upcoming concert that she will be organizing is sure to be an emotional one.
