Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's ShopMy storefront becomes massive hit within her fanbase

Her critics may be upset, but her bank account sure isn't.

The Duchess of Sussex's haters just took another loss. This time, it's related to . . . a ShopMy page?

According to Page Six, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is making some serious cash with the recent digital storefront she opened.

Meghan's ShopMy account lists the jeans, jackets, purses, and other pieces of fashion she wears herself on a regular basis. This connects with her fanbase since it feels like she's inviting us into the same closet she uses to get dressed every morning.

An insider with knowledge of Meghan's new move called it an authentic decision that gives the Duchess "an opportunity to spotlight purpose-driven brands and uplift the businesses she believes in."

Some of Meghan's critics called her new ShopMy page "shameless," but, for what it's worth, Meghan's openly letting her fans know that she gets a commission from every purchase they make.

The power of Meghan's personal brand

Meghan's critics aren't happy with her new source of revenue, but watchers of the Duchess of Sussex should remember that she isn't a working member of the Royal Family.

Like Sarah Ferguson, Princess Beatrice, and Mike Tindall, Meghan has to figure out how to make a living in the real world just like the rest of us.

Knowing this, it shouldn't be a surprise that Meghan learned how to leverage her personal brand as much as possible.

Earlier this month, Netflix announced that Season 2 of Meghan's new series With Love, Meghan was already in the can. Meghan also revealed that Netflix will collaborate with her lifestyle company, As Ever, as they both focus on improving their merchandising strategies.

Susan Courter, the curator behind What Megan Wore, told Page Six that interest in Meghan's personal style has increased three times over recently. The public's interest in Meghan's sense of fashion waned for a bit after her and Prince Harry resigned from their royal duties in 2020.

The aforementioned examples show that Meghan dedicated the time needed to build her brand the long way once her and Harry moved to the United States full-time. She should receive some respect for that even though she doesn't always get it right.

The discussion surrounding Meghan, Duchess of Sussex will always be contentious, but it's important to present both sides whenever possible. I'd be more critical of Meghan's digital storefront if her release was more boisterous and tacky. However, Meghan's rollout was as simple as making a page on a digital platform everybody can use.

What's the problem with that?
