Earl Charles Spencer has come to Prince Harry's aid in a very unique way.

According to GB News, Earl Charles Spencer has advised Prince Harry against adopting the late Princess Diana's family name. As you all may know, Harry has been looking to distance himself from the mainline Royal Family since the controversial conclusion to his appeal for more personal security.

Harry's desire to use a different surname isn't anything new. Last summer, it was reported that Princess Archie and Princess Lilibet would be using "Sussex" as their surname. At the time, the media marked that it was a break from royal tradition. Around a year later, things surrounding this topic are much more complicated.

What is Prince Harry's ultimate goal?

Obviously, Prince Harry wants the people in his immediate household to be safe and happy. However, changing his family name could make the beef between the Duke of Sussex and his royal relatives even worse.

According to GB News, Harry spoke with Charles Spencer during "a rare visit to Britain." Understandably, a conversation about adopting his mother's maiden name is a tad too important for a text message. However, Britain is the same country Harry recently said he doesn't feel safe in.

Also, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and her children have been living a relatively peaceful life in California despite the backlash she received for telling the public about her family's new surname. If Harry really wanted a clean break from the House of Windsor, it would seem that he's already on the path to success.

Of course, there is also the matter of Prince Harry's horrendous relationship with his brother, Prince William. One would think that two blood brothers from the same royal family would share the same surname at the end of the day.

Technically, that is still the case.

However, adopting Princess Diana's surname would look like Harry wants to call dibs on a legacy and relationship that he and Prince William have an equal claim to. That, more than anything, would expose the Duke of Sussex's household to immense chaos once it's time for the Prince of Wales to ascend to the throne.

As Prince Harry alluded to in his viral interview with the BBC, King Charles is closer to the end than we all may realize. That would mean Prince William's ascension to the throne could happen well before he has the chance to stop seething at Prince Harry for adopting their mother's maiden name.

As his uncle has already told him, Prince Harry should really think this one through.
