King Charles' eldest niece, Zara Tindall, recently revealed some of the Royal Family's favorite traditions to practice during the holiday season.
In an article published by Hello! Magazine, the equestrian star said that family dinners on Christmas Eve are a very formal affair. Zara confirmed that members of the Royal Family are expected to wear black ties before sitting at the table. Also, it is quite common for King Charles and Queen Camilla to host the affairs.
While donning a suit and tie after a long day of holiday cheer could feel a bit stuffy for some, the Royal Family does have a fun side! Tindall claimed that the adults and children have Christmas stockings and exchange gifts with one another every year.
Who is Zara Tindell?
Zara Tindall is an equestrian athlete who mainly competes in eventing. Throughout her career, she's won medals at competitions like the European Eventing Championships, the World Equestrian Games, and the 2012 London Olympics. At the latter, Tindall won a silver medal as a member of Team Great Britain's eventing squad.
Tindall's husband, former rugby player Mike Tindall, competed internationally as well. As a representative of Team England, Mike won 75 caps and was a member of the 2003 World Cup winning squad.
Outside of her equestrian career, Zara is a busy wife and mother who is known to spend the holidays with her entire household. Usually, Mike and Zara spend time with the Royal Family before joining them for church services on Christmas Day.
The couple's daughters, Mia (10) and Lena (6), recently began accompanying them on holiday outings so they can spend time with their cousins Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. However, Lucas, the Tindall's three year old son, has yet to make his holiday debut at the Royal Family's festivities.
Tindall's conversation about the Royal Family's favorite traditions added to the information we've already gathered about the House of Windsor's plans for this year. Recently, Princess Catherine wrote a heartfelt letter claiming love was the greatest gift of all. The letter was written in part to promote her upcoming carol service. This event is scheduled to occur December 6th at Westminster Abbey. There's no word on if Zara Tindall and her family will be attending.
As the month progresses, more news about the Royal Family's holiday plans are sure to come out. Whenever the new information arises, we'll be back to share the latest tea!
