We officially have our first look at the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. And Marvel is not playing around with this film. In fact, this trailer has us thinking that they may have finally figured things out when it comes to this property.

The trailer for The Fantastic Four: First Steps really leaned into the idea of a more retro setting. And considering the timeframe when these comics were first written, it makes perfect sense. Since the first comic debuted in 1961, there has always been that retro vibe to the series (although it wasn’t actually retro back then). And even though previous movies tried to modernize the story, we are hoping that this new movie really leans into the retro vibes that make the comics so special.

Based on the trailer that we have now received, it does look like we are getting the retro magic we were hoping for. And I have to say that Joseph Quinn might end up becoming a bit of a scene stealer. We already know that Pedro Pascal is a favorite for a lot of us, but we’re excited for this entire cast. And even though we didn’t see a lot of Quinn‘s character, we are looking forward to seeing how he brings life to Human Torch/Johnny Storm.

To see what we mean about the retro vibes of the new trailer, check out this first look at The Fantastic Four: First Steps below:

Since his real breakout role in Stranger Things, Joseph Quinn has shown us that he is a very versatile actor. So we are very eager to see what he brings to the Marvel family. At the same time, we are absolutely ready for this next attempt at giving us The Fantastic Four on the big screen. And a large part of that is the cast.

The fact that they were able to get Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, as well as Quinn as our new Johnny, gives us a whole new reason to be excited. And this trailer was only a tease of what we can expect, which means that we could be looking at a true winner when it comes to this particular comic book series.

We need this movie to deliver the magic of the comics, because we have been waiting a long time for that. And that’s not to say that we didn’t enjoy the previous Fantastic Four movies, but in this case, I think they may have finally found the key to bringing the story to life the way we want it. And yes, it’s leaning into the original comics and how they were written and crafted.

While the comics were modern for their time, they are not modern for today. And we need to keep that originality in order for the story to truly pop the way it needs to.
