Lord of the Rings and Tolkien fans! Wake up! Amazon's The Rings of Power has been renewed! The Lord of the Rings prequel series that starts well before the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies and books has been on Amazon Prime for the past three years and has been an overall hit (or at least it has been for this fan).

Now, fans know that they don't have to be left wondering if there will be a new season. We now know there will be a new season, which is a huge relief with how many cliffhangers were left after season 2 (spoiler alert).

Sauron was busy getting together orcs and other evil-doers and was set to defeat the elves. But while the dwarves and elves are definitely not exactly winning at this point, they are standing together with one cause: kick the crap out of Sauron. It also doesn't hurt that while Sauron has The Ring, the dwarves and elves have their own rings to fight with.

When we will see the new season of The Rings of Power is anyone's guess. Considering it took two years between season 1 and season 2, we may not see season 3 until 2026, which is a bit horrifying, but considering how many special effects there are and the pure scope of production, it's not that surprising. When it does come out, it will likely be released sometime in late August or September, as the other seasons have come out at that point.

The Rings of Power will be coming back to Amazon Prime for a third season

No matter when the new season hits Amazon Prime, it's sure to be just as much of a success and a fan favorite as the past two seasons. And if nothing else, Sauron, Elrond, Arondir, the hobbits, and Galadriel are going to fight to the death for their respective causes. I can't wait to see what happens next!
