Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh makes some furry friends
Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh is a force to be reckoned with. She was considered like a second daughter to the late Queen Elizabeth II. One of her charitable focuses is sight, inspired by her daughter, Lady Louise's childhood eye condition. Now, she is the patron of the Guide Dog's Reading Hub, a charity she took over from the now unofficially retired Princess Alexandra.
As per Hello Magazine, the Duchess of Edinburgh attended an event with Guide Dogs where she got to cuddle and play with the pooches, while helping make special Halloween-themed dog biscuits. Sophie's dedication to sight-related causes stems back to Lady Louise being born with an eye condition that has since been corrected.
This is not the first event in recent weeks that has seen the King's sister-in-law talk about sight-related issues. Sophie recently appeared on CBeebies Storytime where she read a book for World Sight Day where she introduced herself as simply 'Sophie.' Fans cannot get enough of her down-to-earth nature and ability to go under the radar for events. She's very much like her sister-in-law, Princess Anne in that regard, another royal lady the public loves.
Duchess Sophie continues to showcase her service to the crown and the causes she supports
Sophie's dedication to her world is why people have come to love her. She gets in and does the work without the need to complain. The Queen knew what she was doing when she agreed for her daughter-in-law to take on sight-related causes.
During the event, Sophie was also seen interacting with children and showing her maternal side as she interacted with young children and babies in the spirit of her niece-in-law, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, and the wife of her nephew, Prince William.
Sophie is also mother to James, the Earl of Wessex, a title he inherited from his father, Prince Edward after his Uncle, King Charles gave his parents the Dukedom of Edinburgh. Lady Louise is the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh's eldest child.
