Sarah Ferguson expresses interest in joining high profile Netflix series
By Dallas Glenn
If you've ever wanted to call in a favor to get on Netflix's Bridgerton, Sarah Ferguson is right there with you!
GB News reports that Ferguson expressed her interest in becoming a Bridgerton cast member during an appearance on ITV's morning program. According to GB News, Ferguson said that she's already spoken to Shonda Rhimes and told the writer that she's "game on for Bridgerton" and "coming in."
Ferguson actually made her desires to join Bridgerton clear after correcting misconceptions that she would be appearing on Coronation Street. Ironically, Sarah made this clarification while sitting beside one of Coronation Street's leading cast members, Sally Dynevor.
A huge fan of the Netflix period drama
Ferguson's appearance on ITV's morning program was not the first time she's lobbied for a spot on Bridgerton. Previously, the Duchess of York revealed to Platinum Magazine that she was working with her agent to find a role. When speaking to Platinum, Sarah gushed about Bridgerton's set design and her potential fit as a long lost friend for Penelope!
Despite working for the competition, Dynevor joked with Sarah that she "might know somebody, who might know somebody." According to GB News, Dynevor and Ferguson actually have a close relationship with one another. The two met on Loose Women and bonded over their shared status as survivors of breast cancer.
Ferguson was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 after a routine mammogram and Dynevor received her's in 2009. To raise awareness about breast cancer, the two women serve as patrons for the charity Prevent Breast Cancer.
Dynevor and Ferguson use their status to raise funds for Prevent Breast Cancer and provide new training centers and opportunities for radiologists. Ideally, this would increase radiologists' capacity for breast cancer screening.
Sarah's relative, Prince Harry, will be launching his own project on Netflix this week. Harry's POLO series will cover the lives and careers of today's modern polo stars while also giving a glimpse into the Royal Family's history with the sport. Generations of the Royal Family's men have enjoyed playing careers in the sport at varying levels of success. More often than not, Harry plays in charity tournaments that help him use his high profile for a greater cause.
For now, however, Sarah Ferguson will have to wait her turn to make an appearance on the streaming platform. One would think a real life royal would not have to lobby too hard for a cameo appearance in a period drama, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens!
