The weekend of December 6 is finally here! That means Princess Catherine's carol service at Westminster Abbey has finally occurred!
If you've been reading Tea and Banter recently, you're probably familiar with our coverage of the Princess of Wales' scheduled Christmas carol service. The service was one of Catherine's most significant events since finishing her preventative chemotherapy treatments and re-entering the public space as a working royal.
Earlier, we reported on the Princess' public letter that said love was the greatest gift of all. The short piece was emotional and spoke about the importance of family and keeping an open heart. After the things Catherine experienced this year, it is no surprise that she would deliver a message like this before going on to promote her upcoming event.
This week, however, the Princess of Wales solicited some help from a famous artist to give some last minute promo for the carol service on social media!
A new illustration from a notable artist to create some last minute attention
On X (formerly known as Twitter) and Instagram, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared an image created by Charlie Mackesy. According to the creator's official website, Mackesy is an award-winning artist, illustrator, and best selling author who currently publishes with Oxford University Press.
The illustration depicts a group of adults, children, and a pet heading towards what looks to be Westminster Abbey. The photo contains a brief interaction between two unspecified speakers. One asks "How did I help?" and another responds " were by my side, which was everything."
The text in the illustration is fitting after everything the Royal Family has gone through this year.
Last month, Prince William said 2024 had been the hardest year of his life. Along with Princess Catherine's cancer diagnosis and treatment, the Prince of Wales also had to deal with his father being diagnosed with cancer as well. Past reports stated that Catherine and Charles' diagnoses came within weeks of each other. This, along with a hectic schedule of public appearances around the world, put William in a situation where he had very little time to care for his mental health and digest all the news thrown at him.
Hopefully, the carol service at Westminster Abbey gave everyone in the Royal Family a chance to relax and immerse themselves in the holiday season. In just a couple of weeks, 2024 will come to a close and the royals will have to handle a new bevy of public appearances, media runs, and business engagements in 2025.
