On February 16, the 2025 BAFTA ceremony is set to take place in London, but there will be two royal faces absent from the event. It seems that both Prince William and Princess Catherine will not be in attendance at this year's awards ceremony.
The lack of the Prince and Princess of Wales does not actually come as that big of a shock, as the royal couple does not attend the ceremony every year. In fact, it was always planned that Prince William would be skipping the 20205 BAFTAs. And with Prince William not going, it is not that surprising that Princess Catherine will also be missing out.
One of the reasons that Hello Magazine is reporting for Princess Catherine's upcoming BAFTAs absence is the fact that this is when the half-term holidays for the couple's children is happening. And considering the Princess of Wales has been slowly easing back into royal work, it does make sense that this might not be one of the events on her calendar.
Prince William and Princess Catherine are skipping the 2025 BAFTAs
As the outlet reports, in terms of Prince William, this will not be the first year that the royal had not been in attendance at the BAFTAs. In 2022 he was apparently absent from the ceremony due to "dietary constraints," although no word on what those restrictions may have been. And then in 2021 he missed the awards ceremony following the death of his grandfather, Prince Philip.
Considering he has been the president of BAFTA since 2010, it makes sense that people would expect to see Prince William at an event like this. However, there are some times when that doesn't work. And there are other events that the prince attends related to his work with the British Academy of Film & Television Arts, including one scheduled for Wednesday in Islington.
While we may be a bit disappointed not to see either Prince William or Princess Catherine at the BAFTAs this year, we are still looking forward to all of the glitz and glam of the event. We can't wait to see who wins big and what the celebrities will be wearing on the red carpet.
