Prince Harry shares why he's grateful to be raising his children in the United States

Sometimes, it's dangerous being a royal. Knowing this, some members of the family take extra steps to ensure their safety.
People reports that Prince Harry recognized this when he and his wife, Meghan Markle, made a permanent move to the United States a few years back. Recently, the Duke of Sussex was interviewed by Dealbook's Andrew Ross Sorkin at the New York Times' Dealbook Online Summit in New York City. During the conversation, Harry chatted about his mother, Princess Diana, her wishes for his life, and how he's adjusted to raising his children in a different country.
Escaping the conflict and controversy of British life
During their interview, Sorkin asked Prince Harry if he considered the potential danger of living in the United Kingdom when deciding to stay in the U.S. The Duke confirmed that he and his family's safety was a major point of concern while reflecting over the final call.
During his response, Harry said that he very much enjoys living in the United States and bringing his kids up in the country. According to the Prince, the life he's living now is something he never thought he would realize on his own.
In a sentimental turn, the Duke of Sussex shifted to how he may be living the life Princess Diana wanted for him all along. Harry believes he is able to do things with his children in the United States that he would never be able to enjoy in the U.K. This, according to the Prince, is what he is hugely grateful for.
Resistance and contention
In their article, People also covered some of the resistance Harry and Meghan experienced since becoming husband and wife. The couple changed their country of residence to the United States after they were asked to leave the Frogmore Cottage in the U.K.
Harry's relationship with Prince William also deteriorated after the former got married, which is evidenced by the two barely speaking to one another at their uncle's funeral.
Despite his love for the United States, Harry and his wife purchased a new home in Portugal back in October. Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank were reported to live near the property in an article from Harper's Bazaar.
Some have theorized that living near a few members of the Royal Family could help Harry and Meghan reconcile with other members inside the House of Windsor. The success of this proposed strategy remains to be seen.
For now, however, Prince Harry has no plans to live outside the United States for an extended period of time. Unfortunately, Harry's feeling that his family is safer in America than they would be in the U.K. is a sign that there are problems buying a home closer to family may not be able to fix.
We shall see what happens.
