Royal facts: Did you know Princess Catherine has an allergy?

When talking about members of the royal family, we are curious about so many aspects of their lives. In a lot of ways, we are curious about their lives because we want to connect to them. How are they like us? From their favorite foods to what they watch on TV, we are always down to learn about the Royal family.

And Princess Catherine is no exception. Obviously, there has been a lot of attention sent her way ever since news of her health problems broke earlier in 2024. And this has definitely led people down various rabbit holes about her health and well-being.

Recently, we learned that Princess Catherine actually battles with allergies, much like the late Queen Elizabeth II did. And while the late Queen was actually allergic to cats, it turns out that Princess Catherine is actually allergic to horses.

Princess Catherine has shared that she is allergic to horses

According to Hello Magazine, the Princess of Wales admitted she had this allergy back in 2009 when she and Prince William were still dating. As the outlet explained, “when Kate was asked why she didn't play polo herself, the royal girlfriend replied: ‘I'm allergic to horses.’"

However, it seems that Princess Catherine was also trying to get passed her allergy as a few years after first talking about her horse allergy, she revealed, “I'm actually allergic to them, but the more time one spends with them the less allergic you become.”

That’s right, Princess Catherine was riding horses and getting better acquainted with them as a way to attempt exposure therapy to overcome her allergy. Whether or not this actually worked for her, it is very interesting to learn that the princess is allergic to horses. Considering the royal family seems to have a lot of connections to horses and polo, she must be around them quite often. And we would hope she isn’t suffering because of it.
