Princess Catherine shares social media message saying farewell to Andy Murray
On July 4, Andy Murray played his final match at Wimbledon. The tennis star has said that once the Olympics are over, he will officially retire from the sport that has been his life for years.
And while we have yet to see Princess Catherine, who is the patron of the facility where Wimbledon is played, make an appearance at this year's event as she is undergoing treatment to fight cancer, that does not mean that she is not paying attention to what is going on. Now it seems that the princess has shared a special message to Murray.
On July 6, Princess Catherine took to social media in order to post a message of thanks and farewell to Andy Murray.
"An incredible #Wimbledon career comes to an end. You should be so very proud
- Princess Catherine
@andy_murray. On behalf of all of us, thank you! C"
Princess Catherine shared a goodbye message to Andy Murray following his final match at Wimbledon
Originally Andy Murray was supposed to be competing in a mixed doubles match alongside Emma Raducanu. However, as Hello Magazine reports, "Andy was due to play in the mixed doubles with Emma Raducanu, however, Emma pulled out of the venture on Saturday with "stiffness" in her wrist. With Andy and his brother, Jamie, crashing out of their doubles match on Thursday and with his pending retirement, it means that Andy's Wimbledon career has come to an end."
It is definitely sad to see Andy Murray's Wimbledon career end this way. And yet, he has had so many highlights in his career that we know that this will not be the way he is remembered. Of course, there is still the Olympics to potentially look forward to in terms of his final swan song.
We appreciate the fact that Princess Catherine took the time to send a personal message to Murray as he says a final goodbye to the Wimbledon stage. And while it may not be the ending we expected, we appreciate that he went out gracefully all the same.
What do you think of Princess Catherine's message? Are you surprised by what was tweeted?
