MasterChef Generations arrives on May 29
By D. Goodman
First created in 1990 and then revived in the 2000s, MasterChef was the idea of Franc Roddam as a cooking competition that would air on British television. The format and the show, which sees home cooks battle each other in a series of challenges for a cash prize, has now become an ingrained part of foodie culture.
In fact, MasterChef has become a huge hit all over the world, with the Australian version being one of that country's biggest ratings draws season after season. And in America, the show has become appointment television thanks in large part to Chef Gordon Ramsay.
Ramsay has long been a household name in America thanks to Hell's Kitchen and his fame has only grown as the American version of MasterChef has gained in popularity. And now, Season 14 will soon be arriving on the Fox Network this coming May.
MasterChef Season 14 will pit chefs of different generations against each other.
Over the last few years Fox has attempted to keep the MasterChef concept fresh by giving each season a different theme and this year is no different. Season 14 is being called MasterChef Generations and I have to admit the concept is pretty cool.
MasterChef Generations will pit home cooks from four different generations against each other. They include Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X and Baby Boomers. Now personally I didn't even know the Millennials or Gen Z even knew how to cook, but the fact I'm a proud Gen Xer could have something to do with that.
Anyway, the cooks will be judged by the usual cast of characters which includes Ramsay as well as Aarón Sánchez and Mr. Personality himself Joe Bastianich. The season will include having to cook at a MLS stadium, the popular Tag Team event and the now iconic Mystery Box Challenges.
The winner will walk away with a cool $250,000 and more importantly, the title of MasterChef Champion.
MasterChef Generations premieres on the Fox Network on Wednesday, May 29 at 8:00 PM.
