Merits are still rolling in for the fantastic service held to memorialize Queen Elizabeth.

A new report from the BBC shows that Lord Firebrand, also known as Yogi, has received the PDSA Order of Merit in recognition of his performance during Queen Elizabeth's lying in state and other key royal events. According to the media outlet, the PDSA Order of Merit is commonly referred to as the "animals OBE." This means Yogi just landed the most prestigious honor he may ever receive.

The horse shown above is not Lord Firebrand, but he is a beautiful example of how working horses serve their country on a daily basis. Working horses usually attend ceremonial events to help transport key possessions or provide emotional support. The latter skill is what helped Lord Firebrand net the highest honor of his career; and the people who vouched for him had nothing but kind words to say about the equine.

Representatives from the PDSA said that Lord Firebrand's levelheaded attitude makes him one of the most requested working horses in the business. The horse's relaxed mood helps him serve in Parliament ceremonies, state visits, jubilee celebrations, and various high profile parades. Yogi isn't set to retire anytime soon, which is good news for anyone who has the connections needed to hire such an elite performer!

While this is a fantastic story, it is another reminder that the Queen is no longer with us. Recently, King Charles gave a speech remembering his mother's last days before her passing. Fans of the Royal Family recognize the immense presence that's missing without the Queen here. However, it's clear that the ceremony held to honor her was arranged with love and respect.

So, are you happy for Lord Firebrand's recent accomplishment? Do you know any other animals who have received their version of the OBE? Let us know on X and Facebook and we might cover them next!
