Nicola Coughlan recently disclosed some details about her experience in Bridgerton where she played the romantic lead of the season. She was on The Graham Norton Show with other prominent guests like Daniel Craig, Jesse Eisenberg and Kieran Culkin.
The host of the show asked her whether it was a “liberating” or “empowering” experience for her to be playing such a lead role, to which she joyfully replied that it was her first, at the age of 35, when she played an adult role.
She further added that she looked like Sponge Bob Square Pants in the previous two seasons and no one could’ve imagined her in such a bold role in Bridgerton’s third season.
Nicola Coughlan forthrightly handled both her role and the interview
Nicola Coughlan appeared comfortable talking about the sexy scenes she had to play as the series asked for it. She was fine with the fact that “a lot of sexy things happen in it”.
She was candid in opening up about another intimate scene in Queer, Daniel Craig's latest movie, and how it made it look “beautiful”, as Coughlan put it.
It is where the host cut her out by saying that she had talked about it too much, to which she hesitantly agreed that we could stop it there.
The host even joked to Jesse that he looked as if he didn't know what the discussion was about and he should look it up on his phone. Jesse lightheartedly replied that he would “make exceptions for certain scenes”.
Initially, Nicola Coughlan mentioned that it was “weird” she had been playing the role where she had to go through a tent situation with a curly ginger yellow dress. Suddenly, she felt mature after having played intimate scenes in the third season, apparently taking a creative turn to explain her experience.
