If you plan to call for the elimination of the British monarchy, Sir Michael Caine will not be on your side.

In his new autobiography, Don't Look Back, You'll Trip Over: My Guide to Life, Michael Caine claims that the United Kingdom would be mad to get rid of the monarchy and applauds King Charles' performance as the new King of the United Kingdom.

People who disagree with Caine's take could claim that he is a bit biased since he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth in 2000. However, the prolific actor's comments came after a peer in the acting profession, Ian McKellen, said that the late Queen was rude and Prince Harry was too unprepared to deal with life as a royal.

An interesting debate between two of Britain's finest sons

Ian McKellan's resume as an actor spans the screen and stage. Recently, the actor suffered an injury after falling on stage, but the legend didn't miss a beat and made sure to promote an upcoming project he had.

The Daily Mail writes that McKellan changed his mind about Prince Harry and said he was "on his side" during an interview in September. However, one should remember that Harry has essentially separated himself from the monarchy as we traditionally view it.

Matthew D'Ancona, the journalist who helped Caine compile his autobiography, asked the actor if he thought the monarchy would still be around back in the 1960s. Sir Michael responded by saying people didn't give the question much thought at the time, as most believed the monarchy would be around in some form either way.

The existence of the British monarchy will probably be a topic of debate until the end of time. As such, it's only right that you follow us on X and Facebook so you can give us your take on the subject as well!
