Father time comes for us all, and the King of the United Kingdom is not exempt.

Town and Country's recent article reveals that King Charles told a factory worker in Middlesbrough that "I think my skiing days are behind me."

King Charles' revelation is a bit shocking since he rarely shows a declining level of interest in his more athletic hobbies. However, the King's cancer diagnosis and subsequent battle may have influenced the risks he's willing to take moving forward.

The end of Charles' days as a skiier also makes one wonder if his time as an avid polo player is over as well. King Charles is one of many men in the Royal Family who picked up the sport of polo in their younger years.

Throughout his career as an amateur polo player, King Charles raised over 12 million pounds for charity. The sport has provided other benefits for the King of the United Kingdom as well, as Charles met his second wife, Queen Camilla, at a polo game once upon a time.

According to Town and County, King Charles first learned how to ski when he was 14 years old. The King frequently vacationed at the Klosters resort in Switzerland and hit the trails whenever possible.

Once his sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, were old enough, King Charles began taking them on ski trips as well.

Unfortunately, the Klosters resort has produced some tragic memories for the King over the years as well. Town and Country explains that King Charles lost a friend, Major Hugh Lindsay, after the two men and their friends were caught in an avalanche.

The aftermath of the event traumatized King Charles for years; and the monarch still remembers the sound of snow exploding across the mountains.

Fortunately, there have been more than enough heartwarming moments at the same place to help King Charles emotionally recover from the pain he's experienced. In 2004, Prince William and Catherine Middleton decided to debut their romantic relationship at Klosters while vacationing. Of course, we all know how that courtship would turn out!

While King Charles' work is often the most covered aspect of his life, it can be assumed that he's doing his best to remain as healthy as possible since he is always in high spirits. This may not involve being an active athlete anymore, but it's clear that whatever Charles is doing is part of a top notch plan for his care.
