On January 29, King Charles had a very busy day as he met with the newest members of Parliament at a special reception that included other members of the royal family. And of course, meeting with these new members of Parliament, meant holding conversations with them about a wide range of topics and generally interacting with them about things beyond politics. In fact, one politician’s guide dog was exceedingly popular with the royals.
However, it wasn’t the guide dog that really snagged our attention. Instead, it was a discussion about food. According to Hello Magazine, it seems that one conversation actually led to the king revealing a dish that he is apparently a fan of. In fact a new Labour MP, Dierdre Costigan, was speaking to reporters after the event when she revealed that she and the king ended up talking about a dish that he enjoys, that is also something Prince William prefers as a takeaway meal.
So what happened during her conversation with King Charles? Costigan revealed that, “I said, I’m from Ealing Southall, and straight away he knew it was Little India, and he talked about his love of curries.”
King Charles apparently enjoys a good curry
Earlier this month, we here at Tea and Banter wrote about Prince William’s own love of curry. At the time we pointed out that curry would be considered his second favorite takeaway meal (as he shared that chicken masala was his preferred dish), but he doesn’t like his curries to be too hot. And it turns out neither does the king.
Like father, like son, as both King Charles and Prince William enjoy a good curry, but they don’t want them to be “too strong.” And it sounds like they’re not the only members of the royal family who enjoy a good curry dish. It turns out that even Princess Catherine is a fan. Although there is no word on whether or not she likes her curry with a bit of heat to it.
There is no denying that we love learning the little tidbits about the royal family that make them seem a little more like everyday people. Finding out their favorite meal might seem inconsequential to some, but for us it also makes them seem more down to earth. Yes, they may be royals, but it’s always fun to learn that they like the same things that we do.
