King Charles plans to return to a more "normal" schedule in 2025
King Charles and Queen Camilla recently completed their first royal trip to Australia and Samoa as the reigning monarchs. And with that under their belt, it seems as if the king may finally be returning to a more normal schedule.
As a senior working royal, King Charles is expected to take part in a large variety of events and activities, including royal tours. However, 2024 has been a difficult year for not only the king, but also other members of the royal family. In particular, King Charles has been receiving treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer, which has left him unable to maintain his usual schedule as monarch.
According to BBC News, it sounds like things will be going back to "normal" in 2025, as Buckingham Palace seems to believe that the Australia and Samoa tour were a "perfect tonic" for the king. Not only does it seem like they are expecting a more normal calendar of events for King Charles in 2025, but that will likely include overseas trips as well.
King Charles will be getting back to work in 2025
While King Charles has certainly continued to work in 2024, even after his cancer diagnosis and treatment, the fact that he had to cut back on so many events and activities has definitely left a hole in the royal schedule. In fact, at times it has seemed like the monarchy has faced a media problem that would likely be fixed if we were seeing the king and other members of the royal family doing more public events.
As a palace aide explained following the conclusion of the royal tour in Australia and Samoa, "We're now working on a pretty normal looking, full overseas tour programme for next year, which is a high for us to end on." And that might just be the best news of all, as this could be what the royal family needs.
Not only does it seem like the royal tour was needed for the king and his relationship with other countries within the commonwealth, but it was also a boost to his overall mental health and well-being. According to that same palace aide, "It is hard to overstate the joy that he takes from duty and service and being in public and seeing those crowds engaging with communities across the spectrum. That really does lift the spirits." And that makes sense, especially after such a challenging year.
It should be interesting to see what a more normal schedule looks like for the king, even as he continues to deal with his cancer treatment and the recommendations from his doctors.
What do you think fellow banterers? Do you believe that King Charles will have a more normal schedule in 2025?
