Jonathan Bailey revealed that he has a secret obsession with the sea to Vanity Fair

If there is one thing that we love most about Bridgerton, it is that it has given us stars that we have fallen in love with. Among them are Luke Thompson, Nicola Coughlan and Jonathan Bailey, to name a few. But none have shown up in quite so many places as Bailey.

Every where we turn, we seem to be spotting Jonathan Bailey. And we are loving every second of it. From Fellow Travelers to Wicked, it truly feels like this is the season of Jonathan. So it likely came as no surprise to see him named as one of Vanity Fair's Hollywood icons of 2025.

And while his interview with the publication has given us some interesting tidbits into who Jonathan Bailey is, one of our favorite things from this issue has to be the discussion of what everyone's secret obsession is. According to Bailey, his obsession is actually the sea.

While the actor admits that he did not grow up near the sea, he shared that he lives near it now. But what is it about the sea that calls to him?

"Why I think I love, I know I love about the ocean is that it's the, it's sort of the humbling sort of power of it and it's ever moving. It's a piece of art that's always energized and moody. The power of the ocean is something never to be underestimated."

It's definitely interesting to learn that Bailey has a thing for the sea. And while his reason for loving it is almost romantic, there is no denying that there is something magical about the ocean. It's always interesting to learn these little facts about our favorite actors, and in many ways it makes them more approachable.

Maybe it is us, but it is quite fascinating to learn about these secret obsessions, especially when it is something that many of us can either relate to or at the very least appreciate. Now we just need to see Jonathan Bailey taking on a role where he actually gets to spend time on a beach or out to sea, as that would just be the perfect opportunity to bring his love of the water into his work.
