When it comes to the royal family, we know that there is a lot of planning that goes on behind the scenes. But have you ever wondered how long it actually takes to plan a trip for King Charles?
Recently, Grant Harrold, who was actually the king’s butler for a number of years opened up about working with the Royals. According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, it turns out that there is a lot of planning required for the king to go on a Royal tour, especially a long trip or an international visit.
So even if the king is only in Canada for less than 24 hours, for example, that trip still took months to plan.
According to Harrold, “there are normally months of planning. The planning is done by the office, and then, behind the scenes, you’ve got the butlers and the valets who are in charge of the day-to-day stuff. When Charles travels, he’s got to have the certain things he likes in his diet, or his meals that will be sent over that you can’t get in the US or Canada.”
It takes months to plan for King Charles to travel places
Of course, that’s not all he shared about planning for a Royal tour for King Charles. He also pointed out that other people do the king’s packing, and they have to make sure that he has everything that he needs, including the proper metals, military uniforms, and suits. It is clear that there are a lot of people involved in planning a royal trip, and there is a lot of work that goes in to making sure these trips come together.
As the former butler explained, “that’s why would these take months to plan, not weeks.”
Honestly, it makes a lot of sense that it can take months to plan a trip for King Charles. There are a lot of details that have to be handled, including security. And even the shortest trip requires a lot of work.
Basically, this means that the king schedule is ironed out months in advance, even if we don’t learn about it until closer to it actually happening. This means that for the Canada trip, they would have known about this back in 2024 potentially. So whenever we think of a royal tour, or international travel for any member of the world family, we must think that there’s a lot of work that goes into making it happen.
