The Traitors is back, bringing a slew of American reality stars to a castle in Scotland and a game hosted by Alan Cumming. The first three episodes of the third season dropped on January 9, giving fans an introduction to the cast, a few twists, and some early eliminations.
But through that batch of episodes, no one had successfully identified a traitor. All that changed in episode four, which dropped January 16, as we saw a big clash between Boston Rob and Bob The Drag Queen. It built throughout the episode, coming to a head with an epic Roundtable.
The third episode ended with a cliffhanger as three of the faithful were placed in coffins to end the episode. As we picked up in episode four, it was time to find out who survived. The gambit from the Traitors—Bob the Drag Queen, Boston Rob, Danielle, and Carolyn—was to cast suspicion on the survivors.
As we go through the breakfast, Nikki and Ciara show up, meaning Jeremy was the player who was murdered by the Traitors. To some extent, the gambit works, as those among the faithful begin to suspect one of the ladies is indeed a Traitor. But will anything come of it?
How did episode 4 of The Traitors play out?
The day’s challenge involves bringing statues to the top of a hill and seating a headpiece that grants a shield of immunity to whoever’s name is on it. Once again, as has been the case throughout the third season, there is little teamwork in the challenge. While it’s a success, it seems to be every player for themselves.
We also get a couple interesting moments. Faithful Bob H, best known as a trainer on The Biggest Loser, struggles with the physical aspect of the challenge, which takes a toll on his mental state. His teammates rally to pick him up but it was a rare moment of emotional vulnerability.
The other big moment comes at the end, when Bob the Drag Queen throws some shade on fellow Traitor Boston Rob. The move rankles Rob, who immediately begins plotting his move. Up to this point we haven’t seen a lot of coherent strategy, but with a veteran player like Rob that’s what we get.
As we arrive back at the castle, Rob begins building his coalition. That includes making a pitch to Danielle and Carolyn to turn on Bob. Danielle seems resistant, but Rob assures Carolyn it’s happening whether they help or not. But Bob the Drag Queen seems completely unaware.
During a tense, somewhat explosive Roundtable it at first looks as if the Traitors’ original plan is working. Plenty of suspicion is cast on Nikki and Ciara, both of whom garner votes during the Roundtable. But, as things are drawing to a close, Rob puts Bob the Drag Queen on blast. Since he’d previously been called out by Dylan Efron, it quickly goes downhill.
During the vote, Bob the Drag Queen receivers 11 votes—most emotionally from friend Danielle—by far the most. He’s eliminated as the episode draws to a close, giving the Faithful their first victory. But where do we go from here?
Some now have their suspicions for Rob, who will have to do some damage control to get back on track. That will start with the next meeting of the Traitors, which is set for episode five.
