Season 3 of The Traitors is on it’s way and as we get closer to the January 9, 2025 premiere date, we can’t help but be curious about the British Royal who is taking part in the reality competition. When it was originally announced that Lord Ivar Mountbatten would be taking part in this season, we were fascinated. But who is he? And how exactly is he a royal?

It turns out that Lord Ivar is actually King Charles’ second cousin. So how exactly is he related to the king as a cousin? According to information posted by Mountbatten himself, he is a first cousin of the late Prince Philip and a third cousin (once removed) of the late Queen Elizabeth II. And he is apparently one of the first, openly gay members of the British royals. It is all quite interesting.

Although he may be considered a member of the royal family, he’s not just an aristocrat. This is because Lord Ivan is a former geologist turned farmer. However, he is not just a farmer, as he is also a businessman.

In terms of his relationship with the royal family, it seems like he has a decent relationship with his cousins, as it is said that he is the godfather to Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie’s daughter, Lady Louise Windsor. And while we don’t know if he’s close to King Charles, we definitely appreciate the fact that he has had a good enough relationship with the family to be Lady Louise’s godfather.

Lord Ivan Mountbatten will get his official introduction to US audiences when The Traitors Season 3 premieres on Peacock

It’s very interesting to see Lord Ivar Mountbatten joining the cast of The Traitors for season three. And yet we love to see it. He actually follows in the footsteps of season two’s John Bercow, the former Speaker of the House of Commons, who was also an interesting addition to the US cast.

We are definitely interested to see how well Lord Ivar does in comparison to John. Especially because we didn’t think John would make it as far as he did in season two, and yet we were impressed with his ability to make it deep into the game.

Does this British royal have what it takes to get to the end? It should be interesting to find out.
