Wicked is undeniably a part of cinematic history now. The first movie grossed over half a billion dollars, was nominated for 10 Oscars and won 2 of the categories. We were very happy when it was named one of FanSided's Fandoms of the Year. Just over three months since we learned that the title of the second movie would be Wicked: For Good, we have seen the official move poster for the sure-to-be-dazzling sequel. Here's what we know.
The witches face off

"EXCLUSIVE!" says the caption. "The first poster of Wicked: For Good that @remarafon brings directly from Cinemacon in Las Vegas." The person in question zooms in on the poster to show the promised details.
The first thing that stands out is the tag line: "You will be changed." I understand there are people out there who have not yet seen or heard the entire musical, so I will direct your attention to the moment in the first movie where Glinda and Elphaba reconcile at the Ozdust Ballroom. At the moment that their hands touch, we hear a brief snatch of music and the beginning of it is literally the set of notes that corresponds to the words "I have been changed" in the second-act duet entitled "For Good."
That musical cue was not in the original Broadway version, but the moment paved a yellow brick road to "whatever way [their] stories end." I remember it being one of the three times that I cried when seeing the movie for the first time because it was the first step that turned their conflict into the remarkable friendship that is depicted in this musical.
Next, we see Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba facing Arianda Grande's Glinda. Both are clothed in costumes that show them at the height of their powers, but the skies over the Wicked Witch of the West are roiling with clouds, while there are clear skies for Glinda the Good Witch. Between them is the castle where we know Dorothy Gale and her companions will bring the Wicked Witch down on the Wizard's orders. (Hope that isn't a spoiler for anyone, but The Wizard of Oz has been out since 1939.)
As before, the Wicked title and its new subtitle are divided between green and pink, subtly implying that the movie is equally about each of these women's stories. The only thing they can really stand united on is the date.
Wicked: For Good is set to release on November 21. We will look forward to many more details in the next seven months and bide our time with the sing-along version on Peacock.
