Since its release at the beginning of March, With Love, Meghan has gotten a lot of people talking. At the same time, it has also gotten many of us cooking as well. For instance, the viral Single Skillet Pasta dish has been a hit with many fans who have tried Meghan, Duchess of Sussex's creation. But perhaps unsurprisingly, there have also been some issues.
While there have been plenty of negative reviews and people who haven't even watched the show chiming in about With Love, Meghan, one issue that has recently popped up has to do with chicken storage. According to a press email we received, it seems that in the way the duchess stored her chicken in the third episode has led to some concerns. Specifically the fact that it looked like Meghan was storing raw chicken in her refrigerator without it being covered or in some type of container. Not only that, but it looked to be above other fresh foods.
A With Love, Meghan scene has gone viral for all the wrong reasons
This unusual and unsafe storage technique has become the talk of TikTok. And even Perez Hilton chimed in on the controversy by saying, "Meghan Markle is making us unsafer. Do not try this in your kitchen."
It turns out that this chicken storage technique has apparently meant an increase in online searches for "how long can fresh chicken stay in the fridge."
The With Love, Meghan chicken storage moment now has experts speaking out, including a personal injury lawyer, who was quick to remind us all about the importance of food safety in the kitchen. Considering Jason Reese is a Consumer and Food Safety advocate, it does make sense that he would chime in on the viral moment. So what did Atty. Reese of Wagner Reese have to say about this controversy?
"With countless people tuning into With Love, Meghan and getting inspired in the kitchen, it is important to remind consumers about food safety and the risks of salmonella and other harmful bacteria. Storing raw chicken in the fridge must be done with care as there is a huge risk of cross-contamination from the juices. If not properly contained, it can develop bacterial growth more quickly by being kept at an improper temperature, making it possible for this bacteria to spread quickly, contaminating vegetables, fruits, and other items in the fridge. Foodborne illnesses can cause diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, dehydration, fatigue, and a variety of other symptoms that may require urgent medical care. Those in the public eye should take greater care to set a good example of food safety for their followers to prevent widespread health issues."Jason Reese
While we really enjoyed With Love, Meghan, we actually completely missed the raw chicken storage moment. And it is definitely something that we would never do ourselves. Honestly, we have a lot of questions over why Duchess Meghan did this in the first place or if it was such a temporary thing that she didn't even think about the fact that this was raw chicken that she was leaving so exposed.
It would be interesting to learn more about this moment from the duchess herself. And hopefully she addresses this viral chicken moment in the future. For now though, we are going to stick with making her pasta dish.
