In light of the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, there have been a number of changes to scheduled events and programs. And one of those programs is the upcoming reality lifestyle series from Netflix, With Love, Meghan starring the Duchess of Sussex.
Originally the series was set to begin streaming on Netflix as of January 15, but on January 12 Duchess Meghan issued a statement revealing that the series was being postponed to March. According to GB News, the duchess explained that, "I'm thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California."
With Love, Meghan has a new premiere date of March 4 on Netflix
It actually comes as no surprise that the Duchess of Sussex and Netflix have decided to postpone the series launch. Considering Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have been actively trying to support the people who have lost everything and the first responders fighting the wildfires, they don't really have the time to promote a reality series.
And since With Love, Meghan is supposed to offer a spotlight on California as well, it does not feel like now is the right time for the show to debut. Having the show moved to March gives people a chance to find their footing and it also means that people's attention is not shifted away from those in need. Plus, the fact that at the time the decision was made to move the show there were still fires burning around LA is further proof that this is not the time for a lifestyle program of this nature to begin streaming.
In fact, a royal biographer even shared his thoughts on the series premiering in January in light of the tragedy by saying, "The timing of Meghan's Netflix show could hardly be worse as hundreds of people have lost their homes in the terrible fires." And we agree. So it just makes sense that the decision was made to postpone the show for a few weeks.
While we are certainly excited for With Love, Meghan to debut, we also think that now is simply not the time for it.
