Since With Love, Meghan debuted on Netflix at the beginning of March, we have fallen back in love with our kitchen. While Duchess Meghan's series is not really a cooking show, it has definitely given us some interesting tips, tricks and recipes. And even beyond the series itself, Meghan, Duchess of Sussex has been giving us some extra recipes and tips courtesy of her Instagram account.
On April 3, the Duchess of Sussex took to social media to share a new recipe that we had to try. The recipe is called Chantilly Lili and is of course named after her daughter, Lilibet. But what is the Chantilly Lili?
The Chantilly Lili is an elevated banana pudding. And not only did she give us a straightforward recipe, she also gave us alternatives to make it even easier to whip up. In the video she shared along with recipe, we get to see Duchess Meghan making this sweet treat and even loving on her dog, which was a treat in itself.
Once we saw the way the duchess made her elevated banana pudding, we knew we had to try it.
The Chantilly Lili from Duchess Meghan is a deliciously elevated banana pudding
I wanted to see if I could make this recipe without actually making the Chantilly cream, and since her Instagram caption gives us an alternative to the Chantilly cream, it was actually quite successful. I definitely think making the vanilla pudding from scratch helps with the whole elevated taste aspect of this dessert. (Although I do appreciate the fact that she also mentions the boxed mix as an option, as I have certainly done that before.)
The thing about banana pudding is that it can be a very simple dessert to begin with, so it is not that hard to make it elevated. But it can be a challenge to figure out what to do to elevate it without ruining the whole thing. With Duchess Meghan's suggestions here, we were able to make a banana pudding that was flavorful, had some texture, and was still light and airy. Not only that, but it was fun to try something easy that multiple people could enjoy.

Personally, I would love to see Duchess Meghan release recipe cards or a catalog of some of these recipes to make it a bit easier to follow what she is doing. I appreciate that she is not "creating something new" but the way that she takes even the more simple dishes and kicks them up a notch makes for a more interesting experience in the kitchen.
At this point, I feel like I am following Meghan's Instagram account just for the food and recipes, and that's not a bad thing.
