Season 4 of Next Level Chef has officially kicked off the competition. Our chef mentors drafted their teams, and it was time for the new batch of chefs to cook in the three kitchens.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, since Gordon Ramsay’s team won Next Level Chef last year, he got last pick, but he had an interesting strategy for how he picked his team this season, as he opted for the younger chefs who are more open to learning and trying new things. And since Richard Blais has yet to win a season, he got to go first, and it was clear that he is playing hard this season.
Once the teams were picked, Ramsay was on the top level, Nyesha Arrington was in the mid-level kitchen and finally Blais’s team was in the basement.
For their very first challenge, all the chefs had to create Italian dishes. And it seems like there was some struggles across the board. However, it was Gordon Ramsay‘s team that really seemed to struggle, even though they were in the top kitchen.
Next Level Chef kicks off Season 4 with struggles in Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen
It was an interesting start to the season when you consider that Ramsay actually had one chef that didn’t even make the platform. Unsurprisingly, that chef went into the elimination round. Sadly, they also went home. This means that right away Gordon Ramsay is starting out at the bottom of the season.
We hate to see it, but it was very interesting, because somebody has to lose. Teams are going to fail in the kitchen. And while there was some seriously strong and competitive cooking happening on his team, it did not make up for the fact that his team really struggled. They were not comfortable in the kitchen yet. And it does make sense since this is the first competition of the season under the mentors, but they’ve already had a chance to cook in all three of these kitchens, so that should’ve helped get them ready for the overall competition.
It is going to be interesting to see how things play out over the course of a season four. And we can’t wait to see how Gordon Ramsay helps his team to grow and get more comfortable. Hopefully, he is able to get his team out of the basement in episode two.
