As we make our way through November and toward the holidays, you might be looking for a good series to binge. But what bingeable options are right for you? Let this series be your guide as we give you all the information needed to make an informed viewing decision. Today, it’s a decade-spanning drama about the Irish Republican Army.

Series: Say Nothing

Where to Find It: All nine episodes are now available to stream on Hulu

What’s It About: This new series is based on the novel from Patrick Radden Keefe. It spans about four decades, looking at the actions of young Irish men and women who join the fight for freedom with the Irish Republican Army.

The series is adapted by Joshua Zeturner, who previously wrote the script for Patriot’s Day and the 2014 version of Robo Cop. Here, he plies his skills to bringing this story to life. We get future interviews with adult versions of some of those involved while most of the series takes place in the 1960s and 1970s when these participants were younger and active in the movement.

The first two episodes zero in on a couple young members, Dolours Price (Lola Petticrew) and Brendan Hughes (Anthony Boyle). They are both drawn into the conflict and go to some extreme measures to end British rule in their country.

You Should Try It If: You’re a fan of period pieces, dramas, or the original book from Radden Keefe.

One Man’s Opinion of Say Nothing

This is an interesting subject based on a solid piece of source material. It’s a nine-episode series, each of which runs about 42 minutes, making it a quick binge commitment. While the length of episodes and series might make that appealing, this is a heavier subject matter. It takes place over a few different time periods and it’s often violent and tense. That might not lend itself to a quick binge depending on your viewing tastes.

I did like the way this series was put together. The cast is strong here and the story covers something that many in American might not be familiar with. I liked the production value and I think this has the potential to be one of the better new series to end the year.
