Season two of Kitchen Nightmares started with the “Road to the Super Bowl.” This meant that Gordon Ramsay was all about helping restaurants in New Orleans save their business in an effort for them to capitalize on all of the tourists heading to New Orleans for the big game.
Multiple restaurants were given a chance to survive and thrive during what will ultimately be one of the busiest occasions many of their businesses will have. Yes, there’s things like Mardi Gras and of course, other conventions do happen in New Orleans, so we know that there is steady traffic to the city. It is a tourist destination if ever there was one. However, we all know that the Super Bowl brings hundreds of thousands if not millions of people to a city. And that was what Gordon Ramsay was trying to do, help these restaurants to accommodate all of the visitors.
And while we did get an update at the end of the episodes letting us know whether the restaurants continued with the changes that he put into place, whether they closed (as was the case for one of the restaurants), and just how they were doing in general after Gordon Ramsay was gone, that’s not enough.
The reason it’s not enough, is that the entire point of the beginning of this season of Kitchen Nightmares was to get these restaurants to survive the Super Bowl. And now that the Super Bowl has happened, we want to know how the restaurants fared. Yes it’s great that they survived one or two months after Gordon Ramsay was gone. But what about today? How did they survive the big game? Were they able to capitalize on not only the influx of tourists because of the Super Bowl, but also utilize what Gordon Ramsay did for them to get them this far?
Kitchen Nightmares needs a Super Bowl follow up special
Maybe it’s me, but I want to know if the purpose of the season is what we got. If the purpose of the season is the Road to the Super Bowl, and helping restaurants to accommodate fans, then we need to see how they did. We need to see the results of such a large influx of customers coming through their doors. I don’t even need to know how much they made, that doesn’t matter. We need their reaction to those customers. We need to see if they actually did get a boost from the tourism that the Super Bowl brought. And we want their thoughts on how things went.
Each of these restaurants struggled to even bring in customers or keep customers depending on what was going on in their restaurant. Some of these restaurants struggled to feed their customers because of being overwhelmed. So what happens when you have a steady stream of hungry football fans? How do you handle that?
I really want to know if Kitchen Nightmares was a success in helping these restaurants handle having the Super Bowl in town. And I can’t be the only one.
Even if it’s just a special after the finale, or the way they kick off season three of Kitchen Nightmares, we really need to know if the Road to the Super Bowl was a success
