For Icons Week on Strictly Come Dancing, there are a variety of musicians being honored, including The Beatles, Queen and even Taylor Swift. And it turns out that Sam Quek and her professional partner, Nikita Kuzmin will be performing an American Smooth to Swift's 'Love Story' (Taylor's Version).

Ahead of their Icons Week performance, Sam and Nikita have opened up about performing to Taylor Swift this week, while also admitting that their real life icons are actually their grandparents.

As GB News reports, according to Nikita Kuzmin when it comes to Taylor Swift, "She's just an amazing, powerful woman." And it is clear that dancing to her music is a bit of a honor for the pro dancer.

But what did Sam Quek have to say about dancing to Swift's music this week?

Sam Quek talks about relating to Taylor Swift ahead of her Strictly Come Dancing performance for Icons Week

While Sam and Nikita both think of their grandparents as their icons, that doesn't mean that Taylor Swift isn't an icon to them as well. So it makes sense that Sam would share her thoughts on the singer as she gets ready for her latest Strictly Come Dancing performance.

"Taylor Swift. She’s been through so much and has been publicly humiliated. She started from the bottom, in terms of a little stage in a park with 20 people watching and she had setbacks but she kept going.
We’re similar ages so I can relate to Taylor Swift, even though she's in another stratosphere of fame and success. I've been through that in terms of setbacks and knockbacks and people saying you can't do that, you're not good enough, and then actually just being like, I can do it."

Sam Quek

Honestly, it makes sense that Sam Quek might relate to Taylor Swift in terms of being a public figure who has had to deal with setbacks considering she is a former field hockey player and Olympian. Losses are the name of the game as an athlete and they can shake things up in terms of career success. So her thoughts on dancing to Taylor Swift are understandable.

Of course, now we just have to tune in to Strictly Come Dancing to see how Sam and Nikita do with their American Smooth.
