While there is a ton of news related to the Princess of Wales right now, the absence of a key accessory made different headlines after her most recent visit to The Royal Marsden.

Hello! Magazine reports that people were talking after they noticed Catherine wasn't wearing her engagement ring during her latest appearance at the hospital. Pictures of the royal showed her wearing a glittering eternity band and her traditional wedding ring. However, the sapphire and diamond piece Prince William popped the question with was absent.

Hello! Magazine believes Catherine didn't wear her engagement ring because she was concerned about the health and safety of the patients being treated at the time. In 2020, the Princess visited Evelina children's hospital without her ring. Before that, she didn't wear her engagement band while spending time at Great Ormond Street either.

Catherine's engagement ring once belonged to the late Princess Diana and contains 14 diamonds organized around a large Sapphire stone. The Princess of Wales almost never makes an appearance without the piece of jewelry on her finger, so fans of the royal always have questions when they see the ring omitted from her wardrobe.

Hello! Magazine mentions how Princess Catherine's engagement ring was also missing in a video that showed her congratulating Team Great Britain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. Coincidentally, the Princess of Wales didn't wear her engagement ring in the video announcing her completion of chemotherapy either.

It's possible that Catherine only wears her diamond-studded engagement ring during major appearances and occasions. According to Hello!, the Princess sported the sapphire and diamond accessory at Trooping the Colour, Wimbledon and Remembrance. These high profile events would require the royal's outfits to be at their very best; but this explanation forgets that the Princess could be wearing the ring under gloves without us even knowing.

Hello's guess that Catherine wanted to remove the ring because of health and safety may be the most likely reason in the end. The Princess just entered remission and understands exactly what many of the patients in The Royal Marsden are going though. As such, anything that would disrupt the care provided to those individuals would be unfortunate.

It seems that Catherine's inconsistency will remain a hot topic of discussion until she explains the process of deciding to leave her engagement ring at home. Until then, we'll have to rely on the educated guesses of other reports to get the scoop on the royal's decision making.
