When it comes to the holiday season, the royals tend to be very busy. Even if there are less public events that they need to take part in, there are a few commitments that they have, as well as their annual Christmas gathering at Sandringham.

Since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the tradition has continued with King Charles and Queen Camilla at the helm. But it might surprise you to learn that the queen's son, Tom Parker Bowles has actually never attended one of the Christmas gatherings.

According to GB News, Bowles shared the news about what some might consider a bit of a snub. "I keep getting asked what royal Christmases are like, but I've not actually been to one." But it is clear that he does know a bit about them from his mother, as he went on to say, "I've talked to my mother about it and, from what I gather, it's fairly traditional: a decent-sized Norfolk turkey with all the trimmings, mince pies and Christmas pud."

Maybe it is us, but if your mother, who is the current queen is telling you about the Christmas gathering, she might be inclined to also make sure you were included in the celebration. Even just extending an invitation would make sense to us.

Might things change for Tom Parker Bowles this Christmas?

While we don't know if an invitation to Sandringham was issued for 2024, Tom Parker Bowles did talk about this year and how he doesn't know where he will be for Christmas. And the reason we are wondering about an invitation is because he does mention potentially spending time with his mother and step-father (the king) for Christmas.

According to Tom Parker Bowles, "This year, for the first time, I'm not sure where I'll be. I might be with my mother and The King or I might be preparing the veg before having a pint in my local [pub]." And that makes us think that perhaps this year he will get an invite to the royal Christmas gathering.

Honestly, it is fascinating to learn some of the family dynamics when it comes to the royal family and members of the family by marriage. And it will be interesting to see if things shift this year to include more family at Christmas after the heath difficulties so many members of the royal family have dealt with in 2024.
