With time, comes wisdom, and it appears the Queen of the United Kingdom has learned the value of taking care of herself.
Last Wednesday, Queen Camilla and King Charles visited with multiple film and TV stars at a reception held at Buckingham Palace. At the event, Queen Camilla chatted with Paddington's Emily Mortimer. The conversation was fairly candid, as Emily's mother is a personal friend of the Queen's.
Queen Camilla confirms she is no longer a smoker
According to GB News, Mortimer revealed that her mother was "still smoking as much as ever." This led to Emily asking Camilla if she has stopped smoking herself. Luckily, the Queen replied that she quit cigarettes a long time ago.
Apparently, Queen Camilla was a known smoker and drinker for quite some time. GB News claims that there are pictures of the Queen smoking outside one of her former homes in the late 1990s. However, her son, Tom Parker Bowles, pushed back on the notion that his mother routinely drank alcoholic beverages. According to Parker Bowles, his mother "never a glass of gin in her life."
The Queen's clean and dry lifestyle is sure to pay dividends in the coming years. She recently missed the United Kingdom's Remembrance Day events because she was diagnosed with a chest condition. However, she was able to recover quickly with a few days of rest. The presence of the health issue showed that Queen Camilla will need to be more careful with her health in the future. Removing tobacco from her daily life is an excellent way to accomplish this.
For the time being, it doesn't seem like the Queen's recent health issue will stop her from fulfilling her public duties. Hopefully, the Queen continues to recover so she can attend more high profile events and give us a glimpse into life as a top member of the Royal Family.
