Princess Eugenie reveals details about life-changing trip to India
By Dallas Glenn
If it weren't for a trip to India in her early 20s, Princess Eugenie would never understand the need to fight modern slavery across the world.
In remarks published by GB News, Princess Eugenie revealed that she co-founded The Anti-Slavery Collective after meeting a group of teenage girls in Calcutta, India. The teenagers were rescued from a horrific situation that exposed them to abuse, neglect and exploitation.
Hearing the young women's stories motivated the Princess of York to educate the public about the prevalence of modern slavery and the organizations, movements, and activists fighting against it.
Princess Eugenie's lifelong mission
The Anti-Slavery Collective was started in 2017 after Princess Eugenie and her co-founder Julia de Boinville did years of research studying the factors contributing to modern slavery's existence. At the moment, Eugenie is promoting a set of short films collectively entitled "My Epiphany." The films are available on The Anti-Slavery Collective's official website and social media profiles.
According to GB News, the short films feature commentary from journalists, executives, activists, and former police officers who are united firmly against the existence of slavery across the world. The Anti-Slavery Collective's creative work also contributes to the provision of education to various schools and communities. The charity's ultimate objective is to help the United Nations achieve its goal of ending the global slave trade by 2030.
Princess Beatrice and Eugenie's mother, Sarah Ferguson, are two of The Anti-Slavery Collective's most prominent supporters. The charity has received support from other celebrities in the past as well. GB News states that the organization's first gala was hosted in November 2023.
It would be wonderful if the charity hosted similar events in the future to spread the word and increase its firepower as it works towards ending one of the modern world's most appalling problems.
