On March 30, the UK celebrated Mother's Day, and with it came a number of posts from members of the royal family. In fact, even Meghan, Duchess of Sussex posted to Instagram about Mother's Day, sharing a glimpse into her family's tradition.

However, unlike other members of the royal family, Princess Catherine decided to break from tradition in 2025. According to Hello Magazine, unlike in previous years, the Princess of Wales chose not to share a family portrait (or any picture featuring her children) as part of her social media acknowledgement of the holiday.

The Royal Family social media account, which often shares posts dedicated to senior royals, King Charles and Queen Camilla posted two pictures on Mother's Day, including one of the late Queen Elizabeth II. Whereas Princess Catherine opted for a video of nature for her 2025 Mother's Day dedication.

Instead of focusing on her family for her holiday post, it seems that the princess was more introspective this year. And instead, it seemed like she decided to give Mother Nature her flowers for the holiday. Of course, the video did feature two pictures, one featuring Princess Catherine and the other Prince William, both enjoying nature.

In the caption for her video post, Princess Catherine wrote, "Over the past year, nature has been our sanctuary. This Mother’s Day, let us celebrate Mother Nature and recognise how our bond with the natural world can help not only nurture our inner selves, but remind us too of the role we play within the rich tapestry of life."

While Princess Catherine has long shared special pictures of the family on Mother's Day, it seems as if the past year has truly changed the way she is doing things in 2025. And we don't really blame her for that. From her health journey to the intense media coverage, there are plenty of reasons why the Princess of Wales might have opted to skip the traditional post for Mother's Day and go for a more reflective video and message instead.
