When it comes to royal hobbies, there are quite a few that we think of. Some members of the royal family are into sports, including equestrian activities. While others have taken on things like photography. Princess Catherine is definitely one of the royals who enjoys photography in her spare time, but it seems that she has also added a new hobby to her list.
According to Hello Magazine, while visiting Pontypridd in South Wales on February 26 with Prince William, Princess Catherine revealed a new hobby that she is pursuing much to the delight of the couple's children. It seems that the Princess of Wales has taken up the art of foraging.
Apparently Princess Catherine is learning how to forage and she is sharing that hobby with her children. It seems that this hobby is taking place in Norfolk and all three children were said to be impressed by a puffball mushroom that she found near their home. In speaking to volunteers at the Meadow Street Community Garden and Woodland, she said that, "The children thought it [the puffball mushroom] was fascinating."
Princess Catherine has taken up foraging as a hobby
Princess Catherine is not the only member of the royal family to be interested in foraging, which is the act of both finding and collecting edible seeds, plants, fungus and more. It seems that King Charles himself has also done foraging in the past. In fact, it is said that back in 2011, the then Prince of Wales did a solo foraging trip for mushrooms, and that he was also foraging for mushrooms on the day that Queen Elizabeth II passed away in 2022.
Over the years, the royal family has proven a real love of nature and the outdoors. And Princess Catherine is certainly one of those royals who has showcased her appreciation for the outdoors through not only her hobbies, but even her working pursuits. In 2019, Princess Catherine helped to design and even build a garden that was displayed as part of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. In fact, you can see her "Back to Nature" garden display in the post shared to X (Formerly Twitter) below:

Knowing her love of nature, it just feels like a natural progression to have Princess Catherine adding foraging to her hobbies and personal pursuits. And we really love the idea of Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George enjoying foraging enough to learn more about it and potentially including that in their own list of hobbies.
We can't wait to see if her foraging hobby grows into something more and if she and King Charles are able to enjoy their own foraging time together. It really is lovely to see the Princess of Wales learning about the same hobby that her father-in-law has enjoyed for years.
