Sometimes I think we forget that members of the royal family are diplomats. They are global statesmen, representing their country. However, on December 7 Prince William reminded us all that he is a global representative of the UK. And he did that by being part of the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

Not only was the prince on hand to help welcome the world back to Notre Dame, but he also met with some other world leaders. Obviously, he met with the French president. And he also met with outgoing First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden, as well as incoming president-elect Donald Trump.

According to Hello Magazine, “William’s presence in Paris highlights his growing responsibilities on the world stage. This visit will be a further example of the Prince stepping up to represent the United Kingdom.” And at least to us, this makes perfect sense. Because he will someday be the king, with even larger responsibilities than he currently has.

In terms of his meeting with both Biden and Trump following the reopening ceremony, this was all about furthering the relationship betweeen the U.S. and the UK. Of course, this is not the first time that Prince William has met with both Dr. Jill Biden and Donald Trump, as he met with the former during his father’s coronation in 2023 and the latter during his first term as president.

Considering Prince William was just in attendance at the Christmas Concert put on by his wife Princess Catherine, that was held at Westminster Abbey on December 6, there is no denying that it has already been a busy beginning of the month of December. And we appreciate the fact that he was able to immediately turn around and represent the UK and the royal family in Paris.

It will be interesting to see how Prince William continues to show the world how he will be supporting the king, while also being a representative of the UK. And of course, we can’t wait to see what comes next as we exit 2024 and head into 2025.
