Today has been a monstrous day for news related to the Duke of Sussex.
Earlier today, Hello! Magazine reported that Prince Harry officially lost his challenge at the Court of Appeal over the personal security arrangements he receives while visiting the United Kingdom.
During the case, barristers representing Harry claimed that he was being singled out for inferior treatment and that his "safety, security and life [were] 'at stake.'"
The Home Office, which is responsible for RAVEC's higher level decision making, told lawyers that the latter agency's decision was made under a "unique set of circumstances" and that there was "no proper basis for challenging it."
While reading a summary of the decision made during Harry's case, Sir Geoffrey Vos stated that "Outside the UK, he was outside the [cohort of protection provided by RAVEC], but when in the UK, his security would be considered as appropriate."
Harry's thoughts on the situation
As one could imagine, Prince Harry is not happy about today's events. However, the court's judgment is not the only thing he commented on today.
In the clip shown above, Harry revealed that he "would love a reconciliation" with his relatives in the Royal Family. In a jaw dropping turn, Harry added that his father, King Charles, won't speak to him.
The Daily Mail reports that Prince Harry said he "doesn't know how long his father has left" and "will not bring his wife or children back to the UK" in the same interview.
Naturally, this caused a massive stir across the world and is still a major topic of discussion across social media.
As if we hadn't seen enough today, Harry released a long official statement on he and Meghan's official website, Sussex.com.
Prince Harry started his statement by thanking his legal team and the Court of Appeals Judges "for their time and expertise in unraveling this issue."
After this, Harry writes that the case was always about securing his entire household's safety whenever they're visiting the United Kingdom. According to Harry, the security he wanted was the "same level of security other governments deem necessary for [their] protection."
From there, Harry's statement takes an explosive turn, as he claims that he'll be "writing to the Home Secretary to ask her to urgently examine the matter and review the RAVEC process."
Harry also reveals that he's learned the names of "all those involved [in RAVEC's initial decision], many of whom retired after playing their part."
Are you sitting down? Good, because Harry then wrote that, in 2017, RAVEC's decision makers determined that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex should not receive protection once she became a member of the Royal Family. The Duke of Sussex alleges that this decision was reversed once he asked for the name of "the person willing to carry that risk."
In 2020, Harry's protective services were stripped after "RAVEC refused for the first time to conduct the required annual risk, threat, and impact assessment that their own policies demand."
There are even more allegations in Harry's statement that we can't cover here, but it's imperative that you all read it for yourselves - it's a doozy.
After today, I don't know how the House of Windsor becomes the unified clan it once was. Prince Harry's official statement and interview with BBC News drew a line in the sand that can't be erased.
As always, we'll keep you updated on whatever happens next.
