One of the most intriguing houseguests entering the Big Brother house this year was T’Kor Clottey.

Based on her pre-game interviews, the 23-year-old has lived a fascinating life already and is an interesting person to wrap your head around. Let’s examine her background and how she’s fared in the house.

T’Kor’s background

For someone in her early 20s, T’Kor has experienced an interesting upbringing, seemingly full of tough times but also fun ones.

In her pre-game interview, the crochet business owner discusses being raised by two lesbian mothers on the south side of Chicago. She talks about having a degree in sociology and how that will enable her to read people in the game and use it to her advantage. T’Kor has moved around a lot for someone her age, spending time not only in Chicago but in London, UK and Atlanta. She is the second person in the history of US Big Brother to have an apostrophe in her name, the other being fan-favourite Da’Vonne Rogers.

T’Kor’s strategy

Before the game, T’Kor mentioned that she wanted to fly under the radar and be a more soft-spoken person in the house. On the other hand, she also mentioned that she can be combative, which seems to contradict the idea of trying to be invisible. That made her an intriguing player to follow heading into this season.

While her pre-game interviews were all over the place, it is hard to assess how one will do just based on that. These houseguests are not politicians and are likely a little uncomfortable when on camera for the first time, so naturally, they’re a little nervous. When you’re uneasy and have so much adrenaline going through your body in preparation to play a game many have dreamed about, your words can be jumbled, and many of your answers may not make a lot of sense, while also contradicting each other. That’s the vibe that T’Kor gave off.

In the house thus far, though, she seems to have shown us some small sample sizes of everything she discussed pre-game.

Assessing T’Kor’s game

To this stage of the Big Brother game, T’Kor has remained even keel, not at the top of the food chain or a pawn. She’s yet to experience being a Have Not; she survived the downgrade in the opening week and has walked away empty-handed in all of the HOH competitions.

T’Kor has yet to be nominated, and though it’s not been formalized, she’s seemingly in an alliance of six called “The Collective” with Cam, Joseph, Quinn, Kimo, Cedric and Chelsie. From what we’ve seen, she seems to be close with Kimo and Quinn.

By all accounts, she’s not in many formal alliances, which is not a bad thing, but it’s not evident that she has anybody who would have her back no matter what.

Recently she had her first confrontation with Angela, with the latter commenting to Quinn about T’Kor, Cam, Cedric and Chelsie talking outside. That led to her talking with Angela about how audiences could negatively perceive that, and then we saw Angela crying.

T’Kor says she doesn’t think Angela meant any harm, but that was one of the first times the crochet owner put herself out there. Aside from that, the only thing that’s got people talking about her is T’Kor’s accent, which seems to be a mixture of all the places she’s lived in.

Aside from that, she is in an ideal place to survive for a while. Surviving and winning are two very different things, however. She will be an interesting person to follow to see if she’s playing possum for now or if the social game is the only side to her.
