Week six of the Big Brother game is in the books, and an under-the-radar crochet owner is emerging from the shadows.
T’Kor came into season 26 with the strategy to have a positive persona on the outside while utilizing her competitive nature to go far.
Let’s have a look at her game so far and learn a bit about this former University of Chicago student.
Who is T’Kor Clottey?
T’Kor is 22 years old and has moved around several times in her lifetime, previously living in Chicago and Atlanta and spending some time in the UK capital of London.
While studying Sociology at the University of Chicago, she became renowned for her ability to crochet, leading to her starting her own business. T’Kor is the second person in the history of Big Brother US to have an apostrophe in their name after fan favourite Da’Vonne Rogers. While she is a household name in the reality TV world for now, seeing as she’s on Big Brother, it’s not the first time you’ve heard her name being featured on television.
T’Kor’s claim to fame
Before being cast on this season of Big Brother, T’Kor was a guest on The Kelly Clarkson Show, discussing her crochet clothing line. In her interview, she discussed how the book “For Coloured Girls” inspired her to start this crochet line. The story is a series of poems written by Ntozake Shange of seven women who have suffered oppression in a racist and sexist society.
It was adapted into a movie by Tyler Perry in 2010, starring multiple Grammy Award winner Janet Jackson, and was named the Outstanding Motion Picture at the NAACP Image Awards in 2011.
However, her appearance on a multiple Daytime Emmy Award-winning show isn’t T’Kor’s only claim to fame.
The 22-year-old is friends with Xander Hastings, a finalist on Survivor 41, who finished third that season, which was won by Erika Casupanan, with Deshawn Radden being the runner-up.
Xander made an Instagram post about her in 2021.
Perhaps she was able to learn a thing or two from Xander about how to get in good with people and make a deep run in the game because T’Kor appears to be in a good spot for the moment.
T’Kor’s Business
Her company website says that T’Kor Couture was founded during the COVID pandemic and an uprising in the demand for justice for Black Lives in the summer of 2020. She says the design philosophy is to express the soul, which is our essence.
All of her company’s garments are ethically and thoughtfully produced through the use of sustainable fibres and limited stock in an attempt to reduce waste.
According to its website, the shop is temporarily closed, likely because T’Kor is busy seeking $750,000 on Big Brother.
T’Kor’s Big Brother Game
For the first few weeks of the game, T’Kor didn’t get much screen time, which isn’t bad when you play Big Brother.
While she may have been relatively unknown to those only watching the edited TV show, her fellow houseguests seem to have a great deal of faith in her.
She’s a part of four main named alliances: 5 Pointz, Sixth Avenue, The Collective, and the Visionaries. Her primary loyalties are with Kimo and Rubina, who are still in the game.
Quinn, though, has said that T’Kor and Kimo are at the top of their trust tier, and he seems to have a decent amount of sway in the house.
T’Kor has not been nominated and has voted with the majority throughout the game. She doesn’t appear to be at the top of any alliance, but her name has rarely come up.
In week six, she showed her ability to win a competition by claiming the HOH crown, which was an interesting decision given her relatively safe position.
Big Brother is a game about timing; make a move too soon, and you could quickly be evicted, while a move too late could cause you to lose the money. While week six isn’t a bad time to start competing, there’s no evidence suggesting T’Kor is in danger.
It feels like that’s still the case during her HOH reign as Tucker, who is public enemy #1 in the house, forgave her for nominating him after an hour:
T’Kor has done a nice job of getting in with several people but without spending excessive time with one houseguest in particular. That’s not easy, especially when you find someone you click with. To her credit, she’s made some strategic and emotional solid bonds that could make her a difficult person to evict down the road.
By nominating Tucker, she satisfied the house and ensured no one saw her and Tucker as a pair while still in Tucker’s good graces. That’s about as good as one could hope for in an HOH week. The fact that the house’s biggest threat was evicted on her HOH is a significant feather in her cap.
Things can change quickly in Big Brother, but T’Kor is not only in with numerous people, but she’s also shown she can win a competition and has some physical and strategic threats to shield herself from. Meanwhile, having previous stardom with her clothing should put her near the top of the list for any fan voting and enable her to avoid being the victim of a fan twist, at the very least. There are still double evictions and things upcoming that can change the game, but T’Kor is in an excellent spot to win the money as things stand.
