When it comes to food, the royal family is very particular about what they eat. There are apparently a number of protocols around what they can, and cannot eat, at least when Queen Elizabeth was alive. And there are certain dishes that they just will never enjoy. Even King Charles has dishes that he just does not eat.

However, since becoming king, we have actually learned some interesting things about what the royal family actually does eat at meals and even what some of their favorite take away meals are. But have you ever wondered what kind of side dishes they might enjoy?

According to Showbiz CheatSheet, it seems as if there is at least one side dish that King Charles wants at every meal. And it is a very precise dish, even if it doesn’t sound very special.

So, what is King Charles enjoying as a side dish?

King Charles has one side dish he always enjoys

Apparently King Charles loves a good side salad as a side dish. But he is very particular about his salad. And one of the king’s former chefs explained that, “The king’s cherished salad incorporates a coddled egg, artfully concealed beneath a lush carpet of salad leaves. The unique touch comes when he mashes it all, creating a texture akin to mayonnaise.”

And if you have never heard of a coddled egg, you are not alone. So what is a coddled egg? It is similar to a poached egg…Basically, it is a gently cooked egg that is made so that the yolk is slightly runny and soft, while the white is firm, but not hard. Much like a poached egg, a coddled egg is made by submerging the egg in a hot water bath, but it is considered a coddled egg because it is cooked in a shallow container.

It is all about precision with this side salad and, of course, with the coddled egg.
