September 8, 2023 marks the one year anniversary of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. And it probably comes as no surprise that the royal family is marking the anniversary with plenty of social media tributes. One person who shared multiple posts on their social media is Sarah Ferguson.

As the late queen's former daughter-in-law, and the mother of two of her granddaughter's, Ferguson and the queen had their own special relationship. No matter what happened with Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew, it is impossible to ignore that these two women were friends and were able to connect with each other in their own way.

So on the anniversary of the queen's passing, it just makes sense that Ferguson would want to pay tribute to not only the queen, but also the relationship that they shared.

In a series of posts on social media, we got to see Sarah Ferguson sharing a picture of the late queen's Corgis, a quote from the queen, and even a beautiful throwback picture of Queen Elizabeth II that reminds us all of her elegance and grace. And each image came with a message that perfectly represented what each picture meant.

Perhaps the sweetest tribute (beyond the Corgi post), was the one featuring the throwback picture. And a lot of that is because of the message that Ferguson included with the picture about the relationship these two women shared.

"You were a wonderful friend, a mentor, a second mother to me and grandmother to my wonderful daughters who share so much of your courage and heart. You will always be loved and missed by our family and our nation."

Honestly, it is so beautiful to read these tributes and to be reminded of the impact that the queen had on the people who were closest to her. While she may have been the head of state, for people like Sarah Ferguson, she was family.
