In 2023 Sarah Ferguson revealed to the world that she had been diagnosed with an early stage of breast cancer and had gone under the knife for a mastectomy. This news came via her podcast with her friend Sarah Thomson. And now there is more bad news for the duchess, as it has been confirmed that she has recently been diagnosed with skin cancer.

According to US Weekly, a statement from a representative for Ferguson was issued on January 21 in which it revealed that she has been diagnosed with "malignant melanoma." In the statement, the rep explained that, "Her dermatologist asked that several moles were removed and analyzed at the same time as the Duchess was undergoing reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, and one of these has been identified as cancerous."

At this time, it seems that Sarah Ferguson is still undergoing more tests in order to determine if they were able to catch this form of cancer in its early stages, similar to what happened with her breast cancer diagnosis. And although this news comes less than a year after the last cancer reveal, it is being said that the duchess is still in good spirits or at the very least she is doing what she can to stay strong.

Sarah Ferguson continues to remain open and honest about her health as a way to start conversations about the importance of staying vigilant about one's healthcare and wellbeing. In this case, her willingness to talk about both diagnoses and even her subsequent treatments (at the very least for the breast cancer) have definitely gotten other people talking, as well as convincing more people to speak to a healthcare provider.

Considering how new this diagnosis is, there is still a lot that is unknown. And we can only hope that there is another positive outcome for the duchess. Hopefully they were able to catch the melanoma early enough that any treatment plans are not only successful, but also minimally invasive.

As fans of the duchess and her work, we are wishing her all the best as she once again navigates another health scare.
