Honestly, based on what the CEO of the Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 Helen Helliwell had to say, these games should bring a lot to the table, including some amazing venues and even an emphasis on sustainability. Plus, it sounds like they have plans to bring something new to the games, which we would love to see.
There were apparently six cities in competition to host the 2027 Invictus Games, although both Washington D.C. and Birmingham, UK, were shortlisted in May. While Washington D.C. had a plan in place that included a number of locations for events to take place both in the city and around it, Birmingham was able to edge out the competition. And it makes perfect sense since this was also a chance to bring the games home.
According to Hello Magazine, this is the first time that the Invictus Games have returned to the UK since its inaugural event, which took place in London. At this point, the dates for the Birmingham games have not been confirmed, as they were waiting to announce dates based on which city ended up winning the hosting gig. And now that we know where Invictus Games 2027 will take place, we should know the actual dates for the games soon enough.
As we wait for 2027 in Birmingham, we still have the Vancouver Games to look forward to in February of 2025. In fact, we don't have that long to wait for the 2025 games as they are set for Feb. 8 to the 16th.
What did you think of the statement from Prince Harry? What do you think of Birmingham being named as the 2027 host of the Invictus Games?
