King Charles reveals how he felt when he learned about his cancer diagnosis
King Charles has returned to public duties for the first time since he was diagnosed with cancer in February 2024. He joined Queen Camilla in visiting with both cancer patients and specialists at the University College Hospital Macmillan Cancer Centre. The visit, which took place on April 30, was emotional in a lot of ways, because it was a chance for the king to connect with other people dealing with the same thing as he is.
During his visit, he chatted with cancer patients at the center, which led to a conversation about how he is doing now and even how he felt when he learned about his diagnosis. According to Hello Magazine, it was a touching moment between two people fighting cancer, as they held hands and talked about the diagnosis and how he is doing now.
"Not too bad. It's always a bit of a shock, isn't it, when they tell you?"
- King Charles III
And in terms of how he is feeling now, the king shared, that he is "alright." He also said that things are "not too bad" right now. Although it is said that he is still undergoing treatment and has more treatments planned for "later on."
King Charles returned to public duties by visiting a cancer center with Queen Camilla to end April
The visit to the cancer center was the first of a number of public engagements that King Charles will be participating in over the next few weeks. And this was definitely a beautiful and emotional return to duties, as the king connected with other people who are dealing with their own cancer journeys.
Hopefully King Charles does not overdo it with the public engagements, although it will be good to see him back in the public eye. And of course, we have to appreciate the fact that Queen Camilla was at his side for this first public duty back in action.
It will be interesting to see how the king handles his upcoming engagements and if he continues to look like he is in good spirits and better health.
