King Charles' cancer news comes one day after the royal family celebrated World Cancer Day
On February 4, the Royal Family Instagram shared a post to celebrate World Cancer Day. In the post, they shared an image of the queen with a group of individuals from the Royal Free Hospital, where she helped to open Maggie's Royal Free, which is a support center for people with cancer.
For anyone who is unfamiliar with the purpose of World Cancer Day, it is said to be an initiative to help further raise awareness about cancer and the many different types of cancer that one might have.
For Queen Camilla, the opening of a new Maggie's Royal Free is important work and something she has done before, as she is the President of Maggie's. In fact, the queen has visited 17 different locations of the the support center across the UK.
However, there is a sense of tragedy to this celebration of World Cancer Day, as just one day later on February 5 a statement was released by Buckingham Palace revealing that King Charles had himself been diagnosed with cancer. Of course, this news is not the first time that we have learned of cancer within the royal family, as it is said that in her final months Queen Elizabeth II was battling with cancer that was apparently found in her bones. And recently, Sarah Ferguson has been diagnosed with both breast cancer and skin cancer.
Obviously, it is very important to honor the importance of raising awareness of cancer and the impacts that it can have on people's lives. And we appreciate the fact that the queen took the time to help open a new Maggie's Royal Free location, especially now that we know that her husband has also been diagnosed with cancer.
Considering King Charles has only just begun receiving treatment, it will likely be a long road for the royal family and the king. We of course send our best wishes to the king and his family at this time.
