On March 14, 2024, Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, unveiled the Instagram account for her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard. And while nothing new has been posted since that unveiling, that has not stopped the account from growing.

As of publication, the Instagram account is not following anyone, has the initial nine posts that show off the official cipher for the Duchess and her brand, and officially has over 587,000 followers. However, it is definitely the followers that are causing problems for the American Riviera Orchard Instagram account.

According to SheKnows, Duchess Meghan’s new Instagram account is receiving criticism about something that she can’t exactly stop. It turns out that it is entirely possible that quite a number of those potential followers are fake. It has been determined that there are around 95 million accounts run by bots on the platform. And bots are an issue that many accounts have to deal with. So it’s not surprising that the American Riviera Orchard would have to deal with their own potential bots.

Although it is definitely exciting to see her Instagram account growing so quickly, it is still concerning that there are so many fake followers there. And it is being said that at least 13.77% of those followers could be bots or at the very least suspicious accounts. That could potentially lead to issues as the Duchess attempts to grow her lifestyle brand.

The problem with the bots is that it is not only opening Duchess Meghan up to criticism (or at least even more criticism), but it could also tarnish her brand before it really begins. This could potentially inhibit her ability to actually connect with the people who want to follow her and learn more about American Riviera Orchard.

Of course, anybody on Instagram could end up with bots following them. Unless you have a private account and manually accept followers, you are leaving yourself open to having fake followers. So a lot of the people who are actively criticizing Duchess Meghan for having bots as followers on her new lifestyle Instagram account, are in the same boat. So it’s very interesting to see them making these comments when it is almost a guarantee that they also have bots as followers.
