Season 23 of Hell’s Kitchen premiered on September 26. And the premiere showcased that, Gordon Ramsay is doing something different this season. This season he brought in only head chefs for the competition. These are the people leading their kitchens, so they should understand the demands that Ramsay has for his restaurant.

On top of making this a head chefs only season, Gordon Ramsay also brought the competition to the East Coast for the first time ever. That is because season 23 is taking place at the Foxwoods resort and casino in Connecticut. And not only that, but whoever wins season 23 of Hell’s Kitchen will become the head Chef of the Foxwoods location.

In the premiere episode, it was really all about meeting the new chefs. Not only did they get a brilliant introduction to Hell’s Kitchen, thanks to the Coast Guard Academy, but of course, their first challenge was to cook their signature dish for Chef Ramsay to try.

The signature dish challenge was for the very first reward of season 23. And that reward was dinner with Gordon Ramsay himself. It was a chance for the new contestants to get to know the chef, and for him to get to know them a bit better. And it was definitely a neck and neck competition between what will become the red team and the blue team.

However, it was the ladies on the red team who were able to pull out a win for the very first challenge of the season. And it was nice to see Chef Ramsay sitting down with the women to get to know them prior to the competition officially kicking off.

That being said, this is Hell’s Kitchen and we know that things are going to kick off with a bang. In fact, we expect plenty of fireworks in this kitchen. And it wouldn’t be a season of Hell’s Kitchen without plenty of yelling from Gordon Ramsay. Here’s hoping that a season of head chefs means that they can handle themselves in a high pressured kitchen, because if they can’t handle the heat, they should just get out now.
